Cloud Connect SIM Card Solutions

our innovative Cloud Connect SIM Card Solution, a game-changer in the realm of IoT connectivity.

What is a Cloud Connect SIM?

A Cloud Connect SIM is CommsCloud’s multi-IMSI IoT SIM card that autonomously switches between operator networks across 50+ African countries — keeping fleet vehicles, dashcams, and connected assets online without manual intervention, SIM swaps, or roaming surcharges.

It is not a roaming SIM. It is not EMnify’s Cloud Connect service. It is not uCloudlink’s CloudSIM. It is CommsCloud’s own-designed, Africa-first SIM platform — built on floLIVE’s global Hyper-local infrastructure and provisioned through CommsCloud’s Cloud Connect CMP.

One SIM. All Borders. No Downtime.

The Problem Cloud Connect SIM Solves

Most IoT SIMs are built for Europe or the US and retrofitted for Africa. That shows up in three ways your operations feel directly:

Dead zones at borders. A standard roaming SIM works on one operator’s network. Cross from South Africa into Zimbabwe, or from Zambia into the DRC, and the device goes dark. Your team gets calls. Your SLA clock starts running.

Data costs that punish growth. Roaming on high-data use cases — dashcams, PTT radios, video surveillance — inflates bills by 50–70% compared to local breakout. At 3,000 devices, that’s the difference between a viable and an unviable deployment.

Field faults that aren’t device faults. Misconfigured APNs, wrong firmware settings, and a SIM that doesn’t talk to the modem the way it should. Most providers send you a SIM and leave the rest to your installer. We don’t.

How Cloud Connect SIM Works

Multi-IMSI architecture. Each Cloud Connect SIM carries up to 10 IMSI profiles — Africa1, Africa3, EU1, and others — each with its own independent operator agreement and Core Network. When one network drops, the SIM — not the device, not your team — selects the next best IMSI automatically.

Local breakout via geo-redundant PGWs. Data exits the network at local Packet Gateways (PGWs) across Africa and globally. This means faster latency, lower costs, and compliance with data sovereignty regulations in markets like Nigeria, South Africa, and Kenya — without configuration changes on your side.

Device + SIM co-engineering. We validate Cloud Connect SIMs against 50+ device models — Teltonika, Queclink, Ruptela, Howen, Hikvision — before they reach your installer. Critical APN and firmware settings are documented in our OEM Settings Library so field errors don’t happen in the first place.

Platform visibility via Cloud Connect CMP. Every SIM’s signal events, data consumption, failover history, and alerts are visible in real time through the Connectivity Management Portal. REST API integration available for direct workflow embedding.

The Right Profile for Your Use Case

Africa1 — Fleet telematics and asset tracking Low-data, always-on. Optimised for the Teltonika FMB920, FMT100, and similar tracking hardware. Covers SADC and COMESA corridors. Use for: vehicle tracking, cold chain monitoring, generator telemetry.

Africa3 — High-data video and PTT Engineered for dashcams, MDVRs, and Push-to-Talk radios where continuous data streams are the norm. Up to 70% lower cost than roaming equivalents on the same use case. Use for: Hikvision, Howen, Surfsight cameras; Zello/BroadNet PTT devices.

EU1 — Europe and export deployments For devices that operate across both African and European corridors. Dual-region coverage without dual-SIM hardware.

SIM Form Factors

Cloud Connect SIMs are available in every standard form factor:

  • 2FF / 3FF / 4FF — Standard plastic for consumer and commercial IoT devices
  • MFF2 (embedded) — Soldered PCB, -40°C to +105°C operating range, tamper-proof, 10–15 year lifespan. For trucking, mining, and smart city infrastructure
  • eUICC (eSIM) — Remote profile download and OTA swap. No physical access required to switch operator profiles or update firmware
  • iSIM — SIM logic integrated at chipset level. Smallest footprint, lowest power draw, built for ultra-constrained trackers and wearables

Who Uses Cloud Connect SIMs

Fleet and logistics operators crossing SADC and COMESA corridors: SA–Zimbabwe, SA–Mozambique, SA–Botswana, Zambia–DRC. Vehicles stay tracked, cameras stay streaming, PTT stays live — across every border.

Security and surveillance providers deploying cameras across South Africa and neighbouring markets. Africa3 profile keeps video feeds live on high-bandwidth streams without roaming penalties.

OEMs and device integrators shipping IoT hardware across multiple African markets. One Cloud Connect SIM SKU works in every device, every country — no per-country SIM procurement.

Telematics resellers who need a connectivity product with predictable margin, transparent pricing, and a management portal they can white-label or integrate via API.

Pricing and Commercial Terms

No long-term contracts. No minimum SIM commitments. No roaming surcharges buried in the small print.

You pay per-SIM, per-profile, based on actual data consumption. When you scale from 500 SIMs to 5,000, the unit economics improve — not the other way around.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Cloud Connect SIM? A Cloud Connect SIM is CommsCloud’s multi-IMSI IoT SIM card designed for African IoT deployments. It carries multiple operator profiles (IMSIs) — including Africa1, Africa3, and EU1 — and autonomously switches between networks without device intervention, keeping connected assets online across 50+ countries.

Is Cloud Connect SIM the same as EMnify Cloud Connect? No. CommsCloud’s Cloud Connect SIM is a separate product with no affiliation to EMnify or their Cloud Connect service. CommsCloud is a South African IoT connectivity provider. EMnify is a European provider. The similarity in name is coincidental — the products, infrastructure, and markets are entirely different.

Is Cloud Connect SIM the same as uCloudlink’s CloudSIM? No. uCloudlink’s CloudSIM is a consumer roaming product. CommsCloud’s Cloud Connect SIM is an enterprise IoT SIM for fleet, asset tracking, and connected device deployments across Africa. Different product category, different company, different infrastructure.

How does Cloud Connect SIM differ from a standard roaming SIM? A roaming SIM stays on one operator’s network and borrows coverage from partners when roaming — often at 50–70% higher data cost, with no automatic failover and permanent roaming risk in some African markets. Cloud Connect SIM carries independent native operator agreements per IMSI, with local PGW breakout, autonomous switching, and no permanent roaming classification.

What devices are compatible with Cloud Connect SIMs? Cloud Connect SIMs are validated against 50+ device models, including Teltonika (FMB920, FMT100, FMC125, FMC150), Queclink, Ruptela, Howen, Hikvision, Surfsight, and others. Full configuration guides are available in our OEM Settings Library.

Can I manage Cloud Connect SIMs remotely? Yes. All Cloud Connect SIMs are managed through the Cloud Connect CMP (Connectivity Management Portal) — including usage monitoring, IMSI push commands, SIM lock/unlock, alert configuration, and top-ups. eUICC variants also support full OTA profile updates with no truck roll.

What countries do Cloud Connect SIMs cover? Cloud Connect SIMs provide coverage across 50+ African countries, with primary commercial deployments across the SADC and COMESA corridors: South Africa, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Zambia, Botswana, Namibia, Tanzania, Kenya, and beyond. International coverage (Europe, Americas, Asia-Pacific) is available via EU1 and global profiles.

What is the difference between Africa1 and Africa3 profiles? Africa1 is optimised for low-data, always-on telemetry — vehicle tracking, asset monitoring, sensor data. Africa3 is engineered for high-bandwidth use cases — dashcams, MDVRs, PTT radios — at up to 70% lower cost than standard roaming on the same applications.

Does Cloud Connect SIM work with eUICC? Yes. Cloud Connect SIMs are available in eUICC form factors, enabling remote profile provisioning and OTA updates. This means you can change operator profiles, push new IMSI configurations, and update firmware settings across your entire fleet without physical access to each device.

Who is Cloud Connect SIM built for? Cloud Connect SIM is built for fleet telematics operators, asset tracking companies, IoT device OEMs, security and surveillance providers, and connectivity resellers operating across Africa. It is not a consumer SIM card.
